Storm Chasers

Storm Chasers are trolls who only come out into the light when there has been a storm. They are like moiths to a flame or vultures to dead animals! They exist only out of greed and only when people are vulnerable. While everyone is in business to make money here are some ideas to protect themselves:
  • In Colorado most storms happen during late spring and into fall. If the company that asks for your business has not registered with the state prior to April 30 it may not be from Colorado.
  • Reputable companies carry insurance. Roofing and restoration has risk. The insurance isn't cheap so the companies that have it and can prove it to you by giving you a copy of their policy should be the ones you talk to.
  • You can verify companies with the Secretary of State and with your local jurisdiction.
  • Companies in all  jurisdictions have to be licensed. You can verify with most municipalities and counties online.
  • Talk to suppliers.. who pays their bills and who doesn't.. Builders Express, ABC, Fowler and Peth are top suppliers for this industry.
  • Call references provided.
  • Use local companies that are established.
